Soccer mania has taken over our lives. Its been long awaited, but the actual countdown began 100 days ago. Kids in school marked it off on charts. Radio and TV never stopped reminding us. Products of every possible item you can imagine hit the streets and the shops in the colours of the South African flag. Flags awaving at every traffic light and stop street the street vendors never had it so good. Even flag coloured mirror covers for the side mirrors of the cars genius!

Ive sat back and reflected over the happenings around Europe in mid-April as a result of the volcano in Iceland, and after all the chaos and confusion and waiting, I have a smile on my face. The smile is not one of cruelness, but one of contentment, knowing that I was able to step up and help out in my own special way.
Soccer City, Johannesburg The jewel in South Africas crown, Soccer City, which was built in 1987 with a capacity of 94,700 (excluding media and VIPs), is sure to offer a great atmosphere for the lucky few who have tickets. I recently had the privilege of sending a beautifully restored Jaguar to the United Kingdom. The man who had lovingly restored the car watched my staff gently push the vehicle into the shipping container and begin to secure it. As the container doors closed I saw a brief wave of anxiety flash over his face, as this beautiful vehicle passed into the care of the shipping line and out of our control. There is a strange bond that develops between a man (usually, but not always, a man) and a vehicle. After many years in the international moving industry I have come to respect this bond and have developed a little formula that I use when providing advice on sending vehicles overseas. There are also particular considerations to and from South Africa.

My wife Carol and the kids would follow once the school year drew to a close.

Answer these questions and youll have a good start on the perfect gift for your wife or girlfriend.
Can you imagine hearing those words on the other end of the phone? At first I wasnt sure I heard right. The man on the other end of the line was South African and he had found my number in the magazine. He wanted me to tell his story so no-one else has to go through the same ordeal. Can you imagine being so despondent that you would consider taking such a drastic step? Especially when you have a beautiful wife and three gorgeous kids?
It all started with a party. you know the kind most of us feel obliged to attend, because one of our friends has been so gracious to host one, for example Tupperware! (By the way, I am an avid lover of Tupperware!)
Its supposed to be a childrens poem but its perfect for we larger beings too, dont you think? And so it is with education and learning. Rightly, we focus tremendous energy on creating the best learning environment fo our children. The mental, physical and emotional development that takes place in their early years will be imprinted for life, and it is our responsibility as their careers and guardians, whether they are biologically our children or not, to gift them the best possible foundation. It matters to me, and I am sure to you, that children everywhere are supported and nurtured.
The rugby season seems to get longer and longer, February to December for some players. In a high contact sport where the public demands high quality games, is this asking too much from the players? This will certainly start testing the depth of some nations and without a shadowof a doubt New Zealand comes up trumps in this department. They have recently lost over 20 players to Europe but still managed to win the Tri Nations. In the Super 14 their teams tend to finish higher on the ladder than the Australian and South African franchises. But it will continue as TV dictates the rugby schedules catering for the international mass market.
Whats it like being a vet? How do you train to be a vet? These are questions I am frequently asked. And while its a popular career aspiration, the reality is that it is a very hard career. Hard to get into university for, hard to stay in university and hard work once youre qualified!!
After negotiating the early morning gridlock of Johannesburgs highways followed by a five hour drive into the humidity of the summer Loveld, the sighting of the thatched gate house at Crocodile River, which marks the southern entry point into the Kruger National Park, came as a welcome relief. My travel documents were quickly checked by friendly staff, and I was soon on my way through stunning bushveld dotted with Marula and Acacia thorn trees, all shimmering in the late afternoon sunshine.

Cheap, bland, unreliable and slow are some of the things that spring to mind when I hear the words Korean Cars. These cars have always had the unfortunate reputation of being inexpensive knock-offs of their prestige German rivals. So you can only imagine my excitement when I learned that behind the Epicas shiny Holden badge lurked a Daewoo Tosca.
